YBhg. Datuk Dr Jeyaindran Tan Sri Sinnadurai, the Deputy Director-General of Health of Malaysia is our esteemed keynote speaker for the Summit. His sessions regarding the developments and issues of Houseman-ship in Malaysia during our Medicine in Malaysia Conference in 2014 and Malaysian Medical Student Summit 2015 garnered a remarkable response from all our delegates, leading MMI to have him back as our keynote speaker for MMSS 2016. He will be speaking on the Healthcare Reform Initiatives in Malaysia.
Having been directly involved in the recent developments and improvements of the healthcare system, he is a highly qualified individual to talk about the issues that have arisen in the past and the strategies taken to overcome them, as well as the challenges that come along inevitably. His wit and candid nature are sure to keep you at the edge of your seats while discovering and understanding the healthcare system in Malaysia. On top of being the Deputy Director-General of Health, he holds the position of the Head of the Kuala Lumpur Hospital Department of General Medicine. He is also a Senior Consultant Pulmonary and Critical Care Physician at the Kuala Lumpur General Hospital (GHKL).
He graduated from the National University of Malaysia in 1981 and began his career in medicine at the Kuala Lumpur General Hospital. Throughout his professional career, he has gained extensive working experience and postgraduate training worldwide in London, Dublin, New York and Singapore. He has also earned a great reputation in the research arena on ‘Critical Care Research on Pulmonology and Cardiology’ and has presented more than 150 published papers in medical journals covering the area of cardiology, pneumonia and asthma.
Datuk Dr Jeyaindran Tan Sri Sinnadurai is a member of numerous committees under the Malaysian Ministry of Health (MOH) and is directly responsible for the development and implementation of the Clinical Practice Guidelines in Pulmonology and Cardiology. He also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Yayasan myNADI, a political non-profit foundation that aims to bring about change in a sustainable manner for those who are under-privileged.
