Open forum

Open Forum Part I: Women in Medicine

The proportion of women entering medical school is on the rise and often overwhelms that of its male counterparts. Therefore, we as a student body representing Malaysian medical students worldwide feel it is pertinent to have open discourse about the various challenges unique to women in the field of medicine.

At this open forum, we will have a panel of 3 influential women doctors in Malaysia with various backgrounds, encompassing the breadth of medical specialties and other interests. We will hear about the inspiring journey these women; how they manoeuvred the male dominated field, concurrently devote themselves to their families, as well as keeping up with other passions in their lives.

The session will be conducted with a moderator in a relaxed interview format with plenty of time for questions and answers! What better way to learn than from those who have trotted through similar paths?

Open Forum Part 2: Battle of the Specialties

This is the pre-event leading up to the much anticipated Careers Exhibition. Four speakers, who are dignitaries and luminaries in their respective fields will share the stage to discuss the various factors that students must consider before settling on which specialty to take. Issues like work-life balance, job progression and pay will form the crux of discussion. Using their vast work experience, humour and wits as weapons, the 4 speakers will battle it out on stage for your votes to help them win the best specialty award!
